Loadouts

ATV gear loadouts by trip type

What to carry for six kinds of ATV trip, built from our printable checklists and the products in our roundups, and kept inside typical rack ratings.

Quick answer

Start with the shared kit (helmet, repair, first aid, messenger), then add the trip layer. Weigh your load and compare it with your own machine's rack rating: racks are limits, not targets.

Rack ratings by class

Rack ratings are per rack and are a limit for the rack, not a target. Add up everything on each rack, including the box or bag itself, and keep it well under the rating; weigh your loaded kit with a bathroom scale and use the running total on the printable checklists.
